Wake up to a ready breakfast buffet. Kick off the day with a detailed city tour guided by an expert comprising of the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Summer Palace. Duration: 8-10 hrs.
Bite into the vast and intriguing history of China as you explore the Forbidden city, the world’s largest complex. Located in the heart of the city, be prepared to glare at the sheer scale of this giant compound. Step into the site where time seems to have stood still welcomed by the impeccably maintained Tiananmen (The Gate of Heavenly Peace), the square now extending to 440,000SM2. Not only a popular attraction, the Forbidden City is of peak importance to its history and culture. The Emperor was believed to be a son from the Heaven with powers bestowed upon him. Hence the city was constructed as residence to the Emperor replicating the “Purple Palace” where God was thought to live. Such a divine locality was not permitted to enter by the mere population hence giving it the name, Forbidden City. This served as residence to the emperors from Ming to Qing Dynasty. Next onto the Summer Palace, another must visit when in Beijing. Set on the natural landscape of knolls, open water and luxurious royal garden with pagodas, temples and palaces blending harmoniously together. This UNESCO World Heritage site built in 1750 was an escape during summers for the royal family. Earlier called the Garden of Clear Ripples, it could not withstand the Second Opium War and was destroyed in the 1850s later reconstructed and renamed the Summer Palace. Later, proceed to lunch followed by return to the hotel.
In the evening, join us on the optional Golden Mask Show or enjoy free time on your own. This phenomenal show is an original Chinese play. Set in the mythical Golden Mask Dynasty, tells the tale of a golden masked queen creating and defending her reign but eventually sacrificing herself to save it. The storyline is entwined with a beautiful love story between the Golden Mask Queen and the Blue Mask King. The play covers 8 chapters with over 200 actors presenting dramatic music, expressive dances, elaborative costumes, superb acrobatics, immersive audio visuals and mind-blowing theatrics. One of the most impressive and talked about scenes is how they stage a full on flood right on the platform. Words and pictures fail to describe it adequately; you have to see it to believe it. After a magical night, continue to dinner. Overnight in Beijing.

The Juyongguan Pass is one of the more popular and secure sectors with a solid framework enclosing a valley and surrounded by lush mountains where apart from the wall, many temples and watchtowers can be found. Spend an hour or two here to absorb the stunning views or climb to the beacon towers. Continue on to Jade Factory displaying a variety of Jade jewelry and other items. Start the day with the most important meal before heading out to explore the Terra Cotta Warriors and Crockery Factory and Muslim Quarter.
Terracotta is a clay based ceramic popular in the region of Xi’an from the Qin Dynasty. A few farmers digging for a well, accidently stumbled upon one of the greatest historic discoveries. Underneath was a life-size army of 8,000 warriors made with terracotta buried along with China’s first emperor Qin Shi Huang Di. Further excavation brought to light swords, bronze horses and carriages as well in excellent condition. The army was built to keep the Emperor company and serve him in the afterlife. Each terracotta warrior is actually from the army of the emperor’s reign, each with its unique features and characteristics. As of now over 2,000 warriors have been rebuilt and ready for public viewing while the others are still a work in progress. The site is now listed under UNESCO World Heritage and not be missed on your visit to the city. Next, head to the Muslim Quarter for a glimpse of the tight knit community believed to be descendants of traders and foreign envoys. The area boasts plenty of delectable eats and stores. Refuel with lunch.
In the evening, come along with us to the optional tour of Tang Dynasty Show lasting about 1 hr. or explore the city some more on your own. Peek into the highlights of the Tang Dynasty, china’s Golden Age going hand in hand with wonderful music and dance. You will be wowed by the attractive costumes, authentic music and dance. A temple was initially constructed to house 2 Jade Buddha statues brought by a Burmese monk. But the temple was demolished during the downfall of Qing Dynasty. However, the statues were preserved and a new temple was built on the current premise in 1982 thus being named the Jade Buddha Temple. The highlight of the temple, the Buddha statues are carved and crafted from pure white jade. Continue on to the Pearl factory showcasing another popular facet of Chinese history; pearl extraction. Next, make your way to Bund, a renowned waterfront area and symbol of Shanghai. From here, you are able to view the stunning skyline of the west consisting of 26 uniquely designed buildings from Gothic, Classicism, Romanesque, Baroque and Renaissance eras. Then comes the primary shopping street, Nanjing Road to fulfil all your shopping cravings. Lastly, head to Jin Mao Tower. The tower is fairly new, built in 1999 considering all the historic landmarks this country has to offer. For this 88-storey tower, standing tall at 420M, the architect was able to cleverly combine traditional Chinese cultural elements with modern design making this one of the key buildings in the country. Follow this up with a delicious lunch.

In the evening, partake in the optional acrobatic show or time free at your leisure. Complete your holiday to China with an awesomely conceptualised, multi-million-dollar show featuring a variety of traditional and modern Chinese gymnastics.
