Highlights:

- Ateshgah Fire Temple:
Explore Ateshgah Fire Temple, a castle-like structure once a prominent Hindu pilgrimage site. Although its Indian community has dwindled, the temple remains a historical gem with its unique architectural and religious significance.

- Yanar Dag (Burning Mountain):
Witness the natural wonder of Yanar Dag, where a hillside continuously burns due to natural gas emissions. This extraordinary site offers a glimpse into the natural gas phenomena of the region.

- Heydar Aliyev Center:
Visit the Heydar Aliyev Center and see the “ILOVEBAKU” icon located outside. The center, designed by Zaha Hadid, is an architectural marvel with its fluid and modern design.

- Upland Park (Martyrs’ Lane):

Sheki City Day Trip

Enjoy your day discovering the wonders of Sheki and experiencing its stunning landscapes and rich culture!

Highlights:

Sheki Khan’s Palace:
Begin your exploration at the Sheki Khan’s Palace, a stunning 18th-century masterpiece nestled under 500-year-old trees. Located in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, this palace was once the administrative center for the Sheki Khans and showcases exquisite craftsmanship.

Karavansarays:
Next, visit the historic Caravanserais, which were once vital hubs for trade during the Middle Ages. These fortified structures, with their single gate, were designed to protect merchants and travelers from dangers and to provide a safe haven along the Silk Road.

Baklava Stop:
Make a sweet stop at a local Sweet House, famous for Sheki's traditional baklava. This delicious treat has been made for centuries and is a must-try for visitors.

Lunch Break:
Enjoy a local meal, sampling Sheki’s regional flavors.

Return to Gabala:
After a day of cultural exploration and delicious treats, drive back to Gabala, concluding your Sheki tour.

Itinerary & Road Map

Day 01: UAE - Baku, Azerbaijan (Drive to Gabala and Check in)

Included Meals: No Meal

Upon arrival at Baku Airport, you'll meet your local guide and begin the scenic 5-hour drive to Gabala (220 km away). After arriving in Gabala, enjoy a lunch break (on your own) before heading out for a tour of this picturesque region. Start with a cable car ride that will take you to the top of a mountain, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Next, visit Nohurlake, one of the most beautiful and serene lakes in the area, perfect for a relaxing trip. After the tour, check in to your hotel and unwind. You'll spend the night in Gabala, ready for more adventures the next day.

Day 02: Leisure Day or Optional Sheki Day Trip

Included Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast at the hotel, head to Sheki for a 1-hour drive. First, explore the Sheki Khan’s Palace, a stunning 18th-century masterpiece nestled among ancient trees in the Greater Caucasus foothills. Next, visit the Caravanserais, historic fortified inns built for medieval traders. Stop by a local Sweet House to taste Sheki’s famous baklava. Return to Gabala in the afternoon, and have your own leisure time to explore the city at your own phase. Overnight in Gabala.

Day 03: Gabala (Drive to Baku + Old Baku City Orientation Tour)

Included Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast and check-out from the hotel, you’ll head to Baku city, with a smooth transfer to the capital. Upon arrival, check into your hotel before setting off for a panoramic city tour. Begin with a visit to Nizami Street, a lively central street lined with shops and restaurants, leading to Fountain Square. Then, explore the Old City of Baku, a UNESCO World Heritage site, rich in history and culture. After the tour, you'll be transferred back to the hotel. Overnight in Baku.

Day 04: Baku (Leisure Day or Optional Tour: Absheron, Burning Mountain & Baku City Tour)

Good morning Baku! After breakfast, start the Absheron tour with a visit to Ateshgah Temple, an ancient Hindu site. Then, head to Yanar Dag, the Fire Mountain, where natural flames burn continuously. Explore the Heydar Aliyev Center (visit from outside), a stunning architectural landmark. After lunch, enjoy the view at Little Venice and take a funicular up to Upland Park for panoramic views from Martyrs' Lane. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Baku.

Day 05: Baku, Azerbaijan - UAE

Included Meals: Breakfast

Sagol Baku! Today is your last day in Azerbaijan. Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel before checking out. Afterward, you'll be transferred to the airport for your departure.

I had a fairly good experience with AFC Holidays. I had taken the Baku Package. It was a total value for your money kind of a holiday package. The Fly Dubai flight was comfortable. Hotel dropoff was hassle-free. The hotel that they gave us was neat and clean and we did not have any issues.

Baku was one of the wonderful experiences traveling with AFC holidays since they planned the trip very well from Dubai right until providing us with good tours services. The tour company hired by AFC in Baku was excellent and very prompt with their timings, transportation, airport transfers etc. right up to providing us with personal tours too during our free time. The only disaster was the hotel which was suppose to be 4 stars but we could rate it as 2 star since the amenities were below standards. No proper restaurants for our lunches or dinners and also the offered breakfast was similar on all 3 days we stayed there. Also, room cards had to be activated on a daily basis and also the hotel was located in a very remote, deserted place which was far from restaurants or shopping areas. AFC have always put their best effort to serve their customer but I think customer feedback helps them to serve us better.
