After visiting the Far East, Western Europe, this year the Middlesex University Dubai’s Student Activities department, with the support of Dubai’s AFC holiday, Serbian Embassy in UAE and the University’s Director decided to try something different!
46 students and 4 staff travelled to Serbia, still a hidden gem of the Balkans. During this 5 day stay, we visited Serbia’s capitol Belgrade, as well as the beautiful mountains of Zlatibor, Tara, Mokra Gora and the northern capitol, Novi Sad.
Hectic and tiring, but so happy, knowing the students had a great time and all reached home safely. We took the mountain train, many bus rides and river Danube’s boat cruise. Students visited museums, churches, markets, famous restaurants and danced to traditional Serbian folk music. They experienced the local hospitality, purchased lots of local delicacies and souvenirs and they tried and loved our local cuisine.
To top it all: 7 of our students, hailing from Jordan, Pakistan, India, Russia, Sri Lanka and Portugal appeared in a 4 minute footage on the Serbia’s national TV Morning Show (RTS - Jutarnji Program)! They talked about their experiences in Serbia and why would they go back.

The students’ summer couldn’t have started better and Selma, Slavko, Sasa and I couldn’t be happier that we were there to make their trip memorable and pleasant.
